I would have never believed that I would be down 40 pounds after just 7 weeks. I feel like a new person and have energy to spare. I want to thank everyone that was involved in my gastric bypass. I love you all!!!

Hello I am 2 weeks out of gastric sleeve surgery. I went in at 430 with knees that I could hardly stand on and a back that gave me pain - trouble every hour of the day. I had the sleeve surgery with Dr. Tom and two weeks after I am down 42 lbs. Every thing has been going fantastic. I feel great!. Dr Tom has been my life saver. The back and knee pain are no comparison to pre-surgery level. Anyone thinking about the sleeve surgery with Dr Tom - don't hesitate. I trusted him with my life and he came thru for me. He has great bedside manor and has a very great peronsality, easy to talk to and answered all my questions. Can't say enough about Dr. Tom or the sleeve surgery. Gene

I had Adjustable Gastric Banding done 11 months ago, so far I have lost 106 lbs. The day of my surgery I weighed 303. Last week I weighed a whopping 197 lbs with exercise and reduced portions. This is the best thing to ever happen to me. I couldn't have asked for a better hospital - the staff was awesome and it made my visit the best hospital visit I could have ever asked for. That's me on the right in both photos.
The nursing staff and everyone I came in contact with was TREMENDOUS! One in particular Teri. They were actually eager to help you no matter what you needed. They were always giving you words of encouragement. They were absolutely wonderful when it came to my care and checking my vitals and giving pain medicine. When I called they were right there. They were the absolute nicest people I have ever met in a hospital and I feel priveledged to have been under their superior care. They TRULY CARE about their patients. I would recommend this hospital to anyone! My surgeon and his staff were the absolute BEST! They really really care about their patients well being. They make you so comfortable, they are always concerned about any pain you may have and they take care of it immediately! Overall the ABSOLUTE BEST experience I have had in a hospital anywhere! Thank you Georgetown! The Georgetown community is extremely blessed to have so many caring people and such a great hospital.

Before I had my bariatric surgery, I weighed 313lbs and was miserable. I couldn't exercise or keep up with my son. I had been overweight since I was about 3 years old and I felt like I had missed out on so much in life. I had been the butt of jokes, could not keep up with my friends, and was very self-conscious. I never played sports and was ashamed of how I looked. As a high school teacher, I was always up in front of students and could feel their stares. I decided that if I didn't do something, I was going to die young and leave my son without a mom. At age 30, I got my chance for a change. At 313lbs and a size 28W, I had reached my limit and was relieved when my insurance company finally approved me for surgery. Then began my weight loss journey... A little over 3 years later, I have lost over 160lbs and have maintained a size 8. I do yoga, horseback riding, and many other kinds of things I could not do before. I am a Scout leader and have had no trouble hiking even 10 miles with my kids. I am up for trying any kind of sport, and love the outdoors now! I feel better about myself and have the confidence to do anything now! I no longer feel self-conscious to get up in front of a group of people.
