Martha,
You are so close to your surgery date. Congratulations. I know the wait seems like forever.
Some tips I will give you are:
Practice not drinking with your meals
    Wean yourself off caffeine
    Measure your food
    Start eating more lean protein
Start watching your carbohydrate intake as you will be limited to less than 75 grams after surgery
    Start increasing your activity
If you live close come to our next support group meeting on February 22, 2010 at 6pm
    Sample some protein supplements
Increase your fluid intake, especially water each day
Work on goal setting and the steps you plan to take to reach your goals
Start taking vitamins if you have not already done so
Prepare your "Comfort Kit" as discussed by Dr. West-Smith

The list could go on for days.
Best Regards,
Crystal

Martha, I would relax. Everything is a little overwhelming while you're in the hospital. Make sure you ask questions about topics you are unsure of. Make sure you have you're supplies bought in for coming home (protein powder, vitamins, broth). I found sugar free popsicles very refreshing, but could not stand sugar free chocolate pudding. The pudding just didn't taste good to me and I always loved it before.

I thought it was supposed to be lowfat pudding not sugar free. There is a difference. The lowfat chocolate pudding is pretty good. Am I wrong?

It was the same pudding I always liked before surgery.

We usually stress the use of sugar-free jello and sugar-free pudding. With the pudding, it is best if you make your own as the pre-made containers have sugar-alcohols.
