HELP !!! Carb problems

Postby myoung1030 on Sat Jan 16, 2010 6:06 am

Ciara or Amy,
I'm not sure if it's ok for me to post here or not. When I started this whole band mess(I'm very stressed). B.B.S.A. was apart of Georgetown Baratrics. I was banded on 1/7/09. I paid my $500.00 program fee. I was told the first three months I did not have to pay my co-pay at the time of visit(wrong). In the owners manuel it says I would get to talk to a nutritionist 6 months from surgery(wrong). What did my program fee pay for???????????? I was basically told not to come to this board. I am STRUGGLING with trying to keep my carbs-calories-protein-fat in check according to the owners manuel. And I'm failing. Please direct me in the right direction. I talked with B.B.S.A. they do not have a nutritionist,I have to go across the hall and pay someone else $25.00 per half hour, for something I feel should have been included in my $500.00 program fee. Especially when I have no one BUT this website. Is there a good book on cooking and eating low carbs other than Adkins? Believe me B.B.S.A. will here my mouth on the 1st. Thanks,Mitzi

Hey Mitzi,
Sorry to hear you have so many issues. We have had many changes at the Bariatric Center but the support we give is here for all of our patients who have had surgery at Georgetown Community Hospital. Our Lead Bariatric Dietician is Amy Crist. Ciara moved to Pikeville last August with her husband who was accepted into the Medical Program at Pikevelle College.
To set up an appointment to see Amy just call our office number at 502-570-3717.
The Bariatric Center is operated by Georgetown Community Hospital and are a separate entity from BBSA.
This board is where you would come to have your questions answered unless you have a true medical problem that needs the attention of your surgeon or physician.
As for the program fee, that is a question you would need to address toward BBSA. We at the Bariatric Center had no part in their program fee to patients.
I wish you well. I will also forward your message to our dietician, Amy Crist. You should also give us a call to set up an appointment to see Amy.

Best Regards,
Crystal

Mitzi,

I am very sorry to hear about your difficulty and frustartation. I think it would be best to call and make appointment to see me. You can call Stacey at 502-570-3717 and she will make you an appoitnment. As Crystal stated, we are separate from BBSA, but I would be more than happy to follow up regarding nutrition after surgery. I look forward to hearing from you.
