Adjustable Gastric Band Vitamin Requirements

Postby GCHCRYSTAL on Wed Dec 10, 2008 3:15 pm

-2 Adult Chewable Multivitamin with iron

-Calcium, chewable, 1200mg with vitamins D and K (you can find this in the Viactiv brand or Spring Valley brand from Walmart)
[b]If you choose to take Tums as your supplement you will need to add the Vitamins D 400 I.U. and K 80mcg once daily.

*Remember this is the recommendations for all of us who have normal lab levels. Your particular requirements may be different based on your lab levels. If you have any questions regarding your lab levels you will need to contact your surgeons.
Also this does not replace any supplement you have been told to take by any of your physicians.

**Men do not have to take the calcium supplement unless informed to do so by your physician.

**Do not take your calcium with any of your other supplements as it interferes with the absorption of many supplements and medications. Take it alone and make sure you have waited 2 hours before you take any other supplements.

***As per Ciara Halpin, RD, LD, our hospital dietician: Centrum A-Z is the most complete multivitamin supplementation available. Childrens' chewable vitamins are not recommended as they are deficient in many vitamins and are not good for adults.

The change was in regards to the childrens chewable multivitamins. They have been removed and a comment has been placed at the bottom of the post.

I just found this post, what about the Bariatric Advantage VitaBand? It appears to me to be the one with the most of everything, and I am not disputing Ciara, I am just wondering if it is OK? I can't find the other in my area in a chewable form.
