We need some new recipes

Postby myoung1030 on Fri Feb 20, 2009 5:38 pm

All right ladies and Gents. we need to give each other ideas on our new lifestyle changes. I don't know about you all,but I'm kinda sick of the same ol thing. So lets share some ideas. Maybe some kinda snack idea you have. I record Big Daddy's House on the Foodnetwork channel. He made a dill samon burger that is out of this world. It is 2 cans of pink samon, 2 tbs.light mayo, some fresh dill if you got it,I used the dried(it worked well)1/2 cup bread crumbs, onion(to you liking),squeeze 1/2 a lemon, mix well. Put in a lightly sprayed skillet, brown on both sides then put in the oven at 375 for about 15 minutes. This was great. Today I had Kashi crackers with a wedge of Light Laughing Cow cheese(good snack). Just thought I'd share, you all do the same. I'm sick of my fish recipes all ready. Help me out. Mitzi

The salmon recipe sounds good. I love salmon. Outside of shrimp, it is the only fish product I have been able to tolerate since surgery. I am looking forward to trying it.
Thanks,
Crystal

Crystal, you will love this! It's great! Who would have thought dill and lemon juice would make a difference.

I discovered a chocolate snack!! If you love chocolate covered pretzels, you should try dipping pretzels in sugar free pudding. OMG it taste just like the real thing. And it's doesn't take many pretzels to fill you up at all. This is my monthly chocolate fix!

p.s. I only eat about 10 pretzels - trying to stay low on carbs.

Thanks. I'm only 10 weeks post op and already getting tired of the same old things. It's Salmon tonight for me. Could someone give me a good protein to mix with fruits in the morning? Has anyone tried the Matrix Vanilla? All the cans at Walmart have such a bad after taste. My best source of protein has been the Isopure from GNC. No aftertaste and lots of great flavors. :P

I like the bariatric eating Protein: Inspire Peanut Butter Cookie. It mixes in 4 oz of water and tastes like a real peanut butter cookie. I have mixed it with apple flavored crystal light for the apple/peanut butter flavor but my FAVORITE is to mix it with the carnation Instant breakfast. yummy. I usually make it a 2 parter (because it has soo much protein). I have always wanted to use the breakfast as ice cubes and make a "shake" out it....the carnation instant breakfast just doesn't taste the same in water.

I also like the Strawberry Sorbet by Unjury. Mix with a little milk and some frozen strawberries for a GREAT strawberry flavor. They also make an unlfavored one I put into my oatmeal. (I have also put in the strawberry sorbet...to make a strawberry protein oatmeal).

I have tried Jillian Michaels Vanilla powder. It has some fat/carbs (which I don't like) but the flavor is good...
I have made the following:
vanilla powder in orange crystal light with frozen peaches (tastes like a creamcicle)
vanilla powder with grape crystal light and frozen blueberries (yummy)
vanilla powder with milk and frozen raspberries + a little splenda (this was decantant).

Those sound good. I may try them for one our protein tasting classes.
Thanks,
